Doula Packages

Currently, most hospitals are limiting the number of birth partners allowed into the hospital to just one.

This means that Doulas are not able to support you in person in the labour room as an additional birth partner in almost all cases.

As a former health care worker, I entirely understand and support the NHS in these most unusual times, I understand that they want to limit the number of people going through hospital doors, and this is entirely the right thing to do for yours, your partners, your baby and the hospital staff's safety.

For this reason, I am offering a variety of options to support you during labour and birth, and Postnatally will be offering online support.

I am offering all normal visits and birth support from a virtual stance. This means all antenatal sessions I would normally offer will still happen, I will still be available for you during the course of your labour and birth and will still offer a virtual debrief after. The package remains the same, I will now be supporting you at home in labour either before you go to hospital or before the midwives attend at a homebirth in person. I will also be limiting the lending of my equipment to reduce the need to post or drop things off.

With this in mind, I have changed my Doula packages to reflect what you might need from me for your birth. I am also still offering Postnatal albeit slightly differently so please have a read and let me know if you have any questions.

Please also note that I ask to see confirmation of your identity due to the nature of online work.

Antenatal Support Package

In order to ensure you get exactly what you need from me, I am slightly changing the way I traditionally work.

My first package is an Antenatal only package.

This package includes three 2hr long antenatal sessions, held online, plus a postnatal debrief.

Here we will discuss the birth process and the different phases and some methods of relieving any discomfort. This often takes the shape of positions, massage, breathing or Hypnobirthing techniques (although I am not a Hypnobirthing teacher), use of water, TENS machines etc,  so you can decide which you might like to try during your birth. I can also create relaxing and bonding meditations for you to practice in the weeks before birth if this is something you would like to incorporate. I also have some useful handouts to share with you and have a vast array of information, websites and knowledge I can share with you if needed.

Some mums and dads find they are a little apprehensive about the upcoming birth or have heard others talk about their horror story births which makes you feel worried and sometimes even scared. You may have had a worrying or scary experience with a previous birth. The antenatal sessions are a good opportunity to talk about these fears. Fear of birth makes a huge difference to your birth. If we can lessen the fears you will enjoy your birth far more and will feel more in control of the situation even if things take a more dramatic turn on the day.

This is a key role for me, I aim to make you and your birth partner feel confident to ask what is going on, you feel more empowered by your experience and ensure you are both listened to and respected.

After the birth, when you are ready, we can arrange a debrief where you can go over your birth and ask questions and just have an opportunity to talk to someone about all that happened.  I have found this really beneficial in reducing the risk of postnatal depression which is why it's important to me to chat with you after the birth.

The cost for this service is £150.

Antenatal plus Telephone and Text support in labour.

This support package offers everything from the Antenatal support package but also enable you to call and text me for the duration of your labour.

This may be useful if you need to dip into my knowledge and ask questions during labour or if you or your partner need some reassurance. It may also be that during the tougher times you need to hear some calm soft words or more direction to help you stay in control.

For this, I will be available to you once labour begins, via text and phone.

The cost for this package is £300

Full Virtual Birth Package.

With this package, I am limiting to one client at a time, as per my traditional package.

In this package, you receive everything you would in both the antenatal and telephone and text support packages but I will be on call for you from 38 weeks into your pregnancy and will be available for the duration of your labour and birth via phone, text or online face to face meeting ie Zoom.

If you would like me to support your birth, I will go on call for you from around 38 weeks into pregnancy. Once labour begins, I will be available by email, text, call or video call for the duration of your labour offering as much support as I can. I can talk through how your birth partner can support you in the room, I can demonstrate on a member of my family some of the techniques I use so you can see the method. Should things arise that you want to talk through with me, exactly as if I was there, we can do this so you can find a way through that you feel in control of. This is still your birth, and although things may be limited, it can still be positive. Once baby has arrived, I will still be available for you via the methods mentioned above until you are all settled on the postnatal ward.

Then, just like in normal circumstances, I will be in contact over the first few days to see how you are getting on.

This is currently the closest to being in the room with you throughout I can actually be. However, if you choose this package and are local to me, if the lockdown is lifted by the time you birth enough for me to physically join you, I will (at an additional cost).

Cost for this package as an online service £500

Early Labour Full Support Package

I will now be offering a full birth package which will include face to face early labour support. As in the full birth package, you will receive three Antenatal sessions, each lasting roughly 2 hours in the weeks leading up to birth which will happen over Zoom. I will then go on call for you from 38 weeks into your pregnancy and will stay on call until your baby is born. Once labour has started, I will

come to your home to support you there until you either feel ready to go to hospital or when you feel its time to call the midwifery team to your homebirth. Should your partner not be able to come to the hospital or support you at home for whatever reason, I am able to be your sole birth partner in this case. Otherwise, once I am no longer with you, I will still be available via zoom, text, phone, and email for the duration of your labour until your baby has been born. I generally get in touch a few times in the first week to see how things are going and will arrange a debrief with you once baby is a week or two old for you to ask questions or seek information to help you on your new journey into being parents.

The cost for this service is £800

Postnatal Support

Currently I am not making any face to face Postnatal bookings, however, I am booking online Postnatal Support indefinitely and cautiously booking face to face Postnatal support as of 1st July.

As a mother of four children, and having supported many women postnatally for many years, I still feel I can offer some good information, tips and ideas on how to make your first few weeks with baby easier, even if I can only do this online or over the phone..

For online support, I will be offering online video calls for an hour at a time to support you postnatally. We can discuss your birth, any issues you are having, discuss any breastfeeding issues, support you if you are feeling overwhelmed or unhappy, signpost you to relevant services and groups even if these may too be virtual or in any other way that will make our time positive and productive for you.

The cost for this service is £10 per hour, in hourly slots.

For face to face bookings, this will involve me coming to your home and offering support to guide you and your family through the first few weeks of baby coming home in whatever way is useful to you. This might take the shape of watching baby whilst you sleep, shower or get something to eat, helping with some light housework, caring for older children or providing a listening ear, information that you might find useful or just a friendly face to help you see how well you are doing.

The cost of this service is £20 per hour.
